Nevada: NV Health Link wraps up 2024 Open Enrollment w/99.3K QHPs, up 3% y/y
Over 99,000 Nevadans Enrolled in Health Insurance During Nevada Health Link’s Open Enrollment Period
- This year marks the State marketplace’s second largest Open Enrollment ever.
(CARSON CITY, NV) – Nevada’s health insurance marketplace, NevadaHealthLink.com, recently wrapped up its two-and-a-half-month Open Enrollment Period on January 15, and final numbers revealed that this year’s enrollment numbers outpaced last year’s totals by 3%. This makes for the second-largest enrollment in the state’s marketplace history, with 99,312 Nevadans enrolling in a Qualified Health Plan and 20,984 enrolling in a Qualified Dental Plan.
I was a bit surprised to hear that this is the 2nd highest OEP enrollment in Nevada's history, but sure enough, they broke 101,000 back in 2022.
“These enrollment numbers, which are among the largest the state has ever seen, highlight the demand for affordable health and dental coverage in Nevada,” said Russell Cook, Executive Director of Nevada Health Link. “At Nevada Health Link, we are committed to an overall mission of providing simple and affordable pathways to getting Nevadans insured with robust plans that provide coverage at different levels and price points.”
Of the 99,312 Nevadans who enrolled in health insurance plans through NevadaHealthLink.com, 25,553 were new enrollees, meaning they were not enrolled in marketplace coverage on November 1, the start of Open Enrollment.
Open Enrollment is also an opportunity for already enrolled Nevadans to upgrade or change an existing plan selection. This year, 22,965 Nevadans actively shopped on NevadaHealthLink.com to update or switch to a new plan.
Upon passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) by the federal government in August 2022, an extension of advanced premium tax credits continued to be available to help lower the costs of monthly premiums. Because of this, nearly 9 in 10 Nevadans who shopped for insurance through Nevada Health Link are utilizing financial assistance to help pay for their monthly premium, and 40% of enrollees pay less than $100 to insure their entire household.
Nevada Health Link remains committed to providing enrollees with a variety of options for high- quality customer service. This year, the call center’s customer satisfaction survey has a score of 93%. Over 68% of enrollees also took advantage of free enrollment assistance by enlisting a certified broker or navigator to help them select plans and discover savings.
For Nevadans who are still in need of health insurance, you may enroll through a Special Enrollment Period if you have recently experienced a Qualifying Life Event, such as losing health insurance, change of employment or income, getting married, having a child, or moving.
