Minnesota: New Year, New Coverage: Sign up via MNsure for more affordable health insurance in 2024

Take the first step towards your health goals and start the new year off right by signing up for health insurance through MNsure, Minnesota’s official health insurance marketplace. January 15, 2024, is the last day of MNsure’s open enrollment period and the final deadline to enroll in medical and dental coverage that begins on February 1.

Comprehensive health insurance helps you get the health care you need throughout the year and provides financial protection from unexpected injury or illness. When you buy a plan through MNsure, you can be sure you’re getting quality, comprehensive insurance and not a “junk plan” that provides little or no coverage when you need it most. That’s because every plan sold through MNsure is guaranteed to cover essential health benefits including prescription drugs, emergency services, and hospitalization.

Most MNsure enrollees, including many middle-income families who weren’t eligible before, qualify for discounts (in the form of tax credits) that lower the cost of monthly premiums. In 2024, eligible families will save an average of $6,750 (or $562/month) on their health insurance when they enroll in a private health plan. Access to these savings is only available through MNsure; you can’t get them anywhere else!

Deadline coming soon

MNsure encourages Minnesotans who need health insurance for 2024 to finish their enrollment now and not wait for the final days before the January 15 deadline to sign up. The online marketplace will be open 24 hours January 10-15 (closing at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2024), but the MNsure Contact Center will be closed over the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday weekend (Saturday, January 13 – Monday, January 15).

If you need help, the Contact Center will be open extended hours the week before the deadline:

• Wednesday, January 10: open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Thursday, January 11: open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Friday, January 12: open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The January 15 deadline does not apply to Minnesotans who qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare or members of federally recognized tribes, who can enroll in health insurance through MNsure any time of year.
