New York: And you thought I was frustrated with *California* yesterday...

Yesterday, Peter Lee of Covered California held a phone press conference in which he gave out updated data for new QHP enrollments (bringing the total up to over 217K), but refused to give out any numbers whatsoever when it comes to renewals / re-enrollments of 2014 enrollees...whether these were done actively by the enrollee or automatically by the system.

Needless to say, I was pretty irritated by this and wrote a cranky screed about it.

Just now, I've learned that the other major state exchange missing data--New York State of Health--has apparently stated that not only are they not giving out their renewal/re-enrollment data either, they aren't even going to give out any new updates until February 1st:

Mr. Goldberg is pretty good about this stuff. If he says that NY State of Health has put the kibosh on new ACA data until 2/01, it's a pretty safe bet.

I'm assuming this means that unlike CA, which at least threw the press a bone by stating how many new enrollees there are, NY has decided to not even give that much out.

If so, that means that the only private policy data that we'll have out of NY State--the 2nd largest state-run exchange, mind you--until February is the 83K new-additions figure that they noted way back on December 22nd...and even that only runs through 12/20.

Why?? As with California, beats the hell out of me.

Anyway, it sounds like there's going to be a good 1.3 million gap between the confirmed QHP selection number and my estimated number for at least another 2 weeks. Sheesh.
